THE NEOMA TRIBE, PART OF AN INNOVATIVE
INTERSCHOOL PROJECT
When Marion Thouvignon (PGE 15) took over the Alumni tribe a
year ago, not much was happening: " The community had been very
active in the past thanks to one person but when she left there was a
need for someone to take over " recalls the Alumni. In April 2023, a
first cross school event took place with HEC, EDHEC and ESSEC
Alumni: " There was a great turnout of 50 people and from there we
decided with Jeanne Pais from ESSEC to launch the " Nova Vaga "
project, which purpose is to bring people together for events based
on common interests " explains Marion Thouvignon. Open to Alumni
from all international business schools, Nova Vaga aims to offer
informal dinners and workshops around 4 different themes: Holistic
lifestyle & well-being, culture and heritage, business & tech for good
and investment & real estate: " We kicked off Nova Vaga at the end of
September with a networking cocktail that gathered 50 people. Since
then, different events have been planned every month. People are
very enthusiastic, so it is encouraging us to pursue the initiative " says
the digital marketing expert/holistic therapist. In addition, NEOMA
only drinks have also resumed, usually once a quarter.

A paradise for digital
nomads
Igor du Besset (PGE 11),
Business Director Iberia of Dragon
After working in Paris for a decade, Igor du
Besset decided to move to Portugal in March
2022 with his family and quickly bought a house:
" We wanted to leave Paris and felt that Lisbon
had a lot of the things we were looking for, being
a European capital, close to France with nice
weather " he says. Almost two years later, the
Alumni also enjoys " The charm of southern
Europe's traditions and values that have vanished
in the rest of Europe " . For the last 10 years,
he has been working for design agency Dragon
Rouge and moved to Lisbon with the objective
to reach the southern European market. On a
French contract for the last two years, the goal
is to officially open the branch in 2024 and start
recruiting. " Portugal is full of creative know how,
especially in textile or leather, so it is a great
place to recruit creative talents and produce
for the whole mediterranean zone " he says.
A paradise for digital
nomads
Juliette Gaussem (PGE 11),
Global Head ESG Reporting
at Signify
After 10 years in Amsterdam, Juliette
Gaussem moved to Lisbon in July 2022 with
her Portuguese husband, attracted as many
by the closeness of the ocean and the warm
weather. A global sustainability reporting
manager for Signify in Amsterdam, she was
able to keep her position and work remotely
from Portugal: " Signify is a spin-off of the
lighting division of Philips Lighting which
has an office in Lisbon, so I got a local
contract " she explains, recommending
looking for a remote position with an
international company. " International
consulting companies like KPMG or EY have
an office but are quite flexible when it comes
to work location " she says. Now on maternity
leave, she enjoys a 5 month leave paid at
83% of her salary, while her husband has
access to a one-month paternity leave with
his job.

Tech talents, there are still
opportunities for you in Portugal!
Justine Ruggeri (PGE 17),
Tech Talent Acquisition Specialist at Dashlane
With a Portuguese grandmother, Justine Ruggeri used to spend every
summer in the family house in Ericeira. After working in London where she
met her Portuguese husband, she lived for 5 years in Singapore: " We were
there during the lockdown and couldn't see our families for two years so
after that we decided to move closer to them " she recalls. As the couple was
looking to relocate to an international city with a dynamic tech community
and an attractive fiscal policy, Lisbon seemed like the perfect match. Two
months into her job hunt, Justine Ruggeri found her current position at
Dashlane, a French start up now headquartered in New York: " At the time,
in 2021, there was a strong demand for software engineers, so everyone
was looking for tech recruiters. As a result, the offer Dashlane made to me
was really attractive " says this active member of French tech Lisbon. With
the big crash of the tech sector last year, hiring opportunities are fewer but
Lisbon is still " a great place for tech jobs " says the Alumni, especially for
people with skills in " coding, business or data analysis as well as product
management " she adds. A mother of two young children, Justine also
enjoys the flexibility of the Portuguese law, which allows parents of children
under 3 years' old to work from home.
