Global Fiberglass Solutions will
promote its new offering as a
global corporation: recycled
industrial fibreglass waste processed into manufacturing-grade (12.7
mm, 6.3 mm or 3.2 mm) fibres and
pellets. Clients can purchase the pellets
or fibres directly, and GFS also offers
its own line of manufactured products
including construction panels, warehouse pallets and railway ties.
The Ecopolycrete patented construction material is extremely durable with
characteristics similar to steel or reinforced plastics. It is chemically resistant, heat resistant, waterproof
and resistant to further environmental factors. The material's characteristics allow for flexible moulding, hence the wide variety of
GFS' manufacturing capability.
The Ecopolycrete material is created entirely from industrial fibreglass waste, meaning an unlimited source of material and an environmentally-sustainable and responsible product. The material is
non-toxic and an extremely safe material to manufacture.
GFS' manufactured products and material are substantially less expensive than other currently available materials and products, especially with regard to durability. There exists high potential for these
products for use in applications such as paving, construction and
roadway materials. As demand grows for sustainable waste management, the company will answer this demand with infinitely recyclable yet quality-competitive products.

Concordia recently invested significant resources in further
testing and improving their thermoplastic commingled fibre
offerings. As a supplier of key components to the thermoplastic composite marketplace, Concordia has taken on an industry-leading initiative to capture the quantitative benefits of each
thermoplastic offering. This initiative includes conducting ASTM
testing on composite uni-plates built with their commingled fibre
comparing various sizings and no sizing.
Increased performance from
properly selected and applied
sizing has shown improved
efficiency in fibre textile conversion as well as increased
finished composite part performance. In comparison,
improper sizing selection in a
thermoplastic composite can
lead to premature failure, thus
the importance of having adequate test results to demonstrate good adhesion and optimized composite strength.
Additionally, the company's
capabilities have expanded to
include commingling of three or more types of fibres together in a
single commingled tow. Examples include a carbon fibre commingled with both glass and thermoplastic as well as a glass fibre commingled with a high-temperature thermoplastic and a low-temperature thermoplastic.
