When USA Today started its distribution in 1982,
it rapidly became the largest newspaper in the US.
Its principal aim is to publish easy-to-understandand-to-comprehend stories. It also pioneers the extensive use of
colour charts and figures.
To me, JEC Composites Magazine is assuming this role in the
composite materials community. It offers short reports on a wide
spectrum of information, from engineering to business, that are
easy to read and comprehend. It provides actionable information
for most of us. The quality of contributors, plus page design and
use of colour, set this magazine apart from its competitors. Authors
like myself and many of our global research team have found most
current findings can reach users in the industry in the shortest
publication cycle. The editorial staff provides quick response and

As the host of the largest composites
show around the world and the most
influential publication in the field of
composites, JEC has created a successful and special model that demonstrates, promotes and expands the

support. In this magazine, the reader will also find information that
is easy to capture and digest. He/she can master the essence of the
articles by quick scanning and reading. He/she can improve his/
her skills and knowledge whether he/she is a material scientist
or engineer, or a manager. From the contributor's viewpoint, the
magazine provides an effective vehicle to reach a vast audience in a
matter of a few months. This magazine clearly shows JEC Group's
commitment to quality information for our composites community. It goes into depths that many on-line newspapers cannot
achieve. It is part of the total package that sets JEC Group, with all
its activities, apart from comparable organizations.
Agility is a hallmark of this organization, with a leadership that
can respond to the community's needs and help shape the vision
for the future. We wish to congratulate the editor and staff of JEC
Composites Magazine for their success in the first 100th issue and
have every confidence in their unique role and mission that will
only improve in the next 100 issues.

paying high attention to environmental
protection and recycling, and from a
long history and culture in Europe. The
year 2015 is a milestone for JEC Group
as JEC Europe experienced its 50th anniversary in Paris and JEC Composites
Magazine will celebrate its 100th issue
next October.
It all began twenty years ago, when a
group of five people from China visited
JEC Paris. From then on, a Chinese
professional group attended JEC
Europe every year with 30-40 people.
Today, about 100 Chinese companies
book stands to show their products
at JEC Europe, with more and more
attendees from China. JEC Europe has
become the most important overseas
platform for exchange, cooperation
and trade for Chinese composites
companies.
In the past 12 years, JEC Composites
Magazine launched a lot of Chinese
news and industrial reports to help
global readers understand the local
market, and interviewed many leading
Chinese manufacturers and entrepreneurs to introduce them into the international market. We thank the editors

of JEC Composites Magazine for their
contribution to the China-Europe composites industry. Looking ahead, one
thing should be recognized and paid
attention to: to promote sustainable
development, the Chinese government
has promised that by 2030, China'
carbon emissions will be reduced by
50%. This will be a major change, and it
is also a big chance and a vast potential consumption market for advanced
international companies. It means a
lot of technical progress and industry
upgrading could occur in China during
the next 15 years. Technologies and
equipment for thermoplastic composites and intelligent production will be
more popular and be encouraged by the
government.
Furthermore, lightweight automobile,
wind energy and aerospace applications
will grow rapidly as the development
and application of advanced materials
like carbon fibre are booming.
With their advantages in technologies
and management, I believe European
companies could play an important role
in embracing the Chinese market; due
to its nature, JEC Composites Magazine
could witness and record the successful
cooperation between China and Europe
in the future.
