The amount of organic cotton that farmers grew worldwide in 2007/2008 increased by 152 percent to 145,872 metric tons. The increase was driven in large part by the heightened global demand from retailers for organic cotton. Positively the OE anticipates , that organic cotton production will increase another 54 per cent in 2008/2009.
