FEATURE “Marine” Core materials g…/… Pressure-resistant nonwoven core material in Park Avenue boom Fig.3: Infusion with Lantor Soric XF improve performance. Powerboats can always increase performance by increasing horsepower. Sailboats, on the other hand, can only increase performance by reducing weight (without sacrificing structure), since the power of the wind cannot be increased. If two similar sailboats are racing in the same wind conditions, the lighter of the two will inevitably have the advantage. In the same way that the famous J-Boats of the 1920s and 30s lead the world in advanced sailboat technology, Fig.4: SORIC's high compression strength and honeycomb "channels" for resin flow. Novis is leading the sailboat industry today in their adoption of infusion technology and light weight carbon fibre masts and booms. The use of Lantor Soric flexible core in the Novis Marine Park Avenue boom goes along way in maintaining their leadership in this highly competitive market, and re-establishing a maritime tradition.
