Aircelle opens its first U.S. facility
Aircelle (Safran) formally inaugurated the Aircelle Services Americas
facility at Indianapolis, Indiana,
bringing the company's expertise in
maintenance, repair and overhaul
(MRO) for its jet engine nacelles that
are operational across North and South
America.
The 17,000-square-ft. MRO shop provides maintenance solutions matched
to customers' needs, having started
with Aircelle-manufactured nacelles for
regional aircraft and business jets - and
now expanding to nacelles for singleaisle and widebody airliners.
This facility marks the expansion of Aircelle's global MRO network, and is the
company's first dedicated facility in the
United States. Its area of responsibility
covers the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central
and South America.

The President of USA announces
manufacturing innovation hub in
Tennessee
A Knoxville-area based consortium of
122 companies, nonprofits, universities
and research laboratories is partnering
with the Department of Energy to create
a more than $250 million manufacturing innovation institute focused on U.S.
leadership in next-generation composite
materials.
After a decade of decline, American
manufacturing is coming back, adding 786,000 new jobs since February
2010. The Department of Energy and a
consortium of 122 companies, nonprofits, and universities led by the University of Tennessee-Knoxville will invest
more than $250 million - $70 million
in federal funds and more than $180
million in non-federal funds - to launch
a Manufacturing Innovation Institute for
Advanced Composites.
