EQUIPMENT SAFETY WITHOUT HASSLE Designed for all those, who like coastal cruising, the new SECUFIT 100N jacket from Tribord is the result of a study that was carried out and some exclusive innovation from Tribord. The practical study led to a design allowing ease of movement during manoeuvres, the SECUFIT innovation allowing the collar, which tends to flap up in the wind, to stay down during sailing, and only come into play if you fall. We can note that there is a colour coding according to weight range (marked on the collar), which is very practical when handing out jackets in sailing schools for example… A NEW GENERATION OF LIFERAFT RESPECTING YOUR WRIST Breitling, the sponsor of the Mediterranean circuit for the TP52s called the Breitling Med Cup, launched the Superocean back in the fifties. A new diver’s watch with single case and toughened glass guaranteeing it remained watertight at a depth of 200 metres – which at that time was quite a feat. Breitling is paying homage to that instrument today by creating the Superocean Heritage, which is now available in two sizes (38 and 46 mm). Two new straps are also available: woven steel and rubber. The Superocean is fitted with an automatic mechanical movement certified as a chronometer by the COSC (the Swiss chronometer verification agency) – like all Breitling movements. Plastimo is now selling a new range of ISAF liferafts specially designed for ocean racing (valid for ISAF category 1 and 2 races, satisfying OSR rule 4.20.2 (d) i-iv) : ISAF Transocean liferaft. Satisfies the norms laid down in ISO 9650-1A, available in 4 to 12 place versions, this new generation offers the performance in terms of inflation, resistance, buoyancy and living conditions of the ISO raft, with as an extra, easy access enabling one person to enter the liferaft. There are a number of water ballast pockets, external light 4.3 cd and 1500 cm2 of reflective strips, double chamber, gas pressure activated firing head, vacuum packed in watertight bag, guaranteed for 12 years…. optimum safety for ocean racers. YOU ARE THE BATTERY If it works on battery, the torch you left switched on in the bottom of your boat can let you down, as the battery easily runs out. The Ribitech company has come up with the Dynamo torch. Economical, it works without a battery, thanks to a dynamo system. A few winds are enough to charge up the lithium battery. Light and fitted with a large handle to make it easy to carry, resistant to splashes, this dynamo torch is also fitted with a 3-way switch allowing the user to choose the brightness, as well as mains and cigar-lighter charger, mini-jack plug to recharge the battery and a charge indicator. By winding for two minutes, you will have enough energy to light up 3 LEDs for 50 minutes. AN ECHO ON THE CHART Grafocarte has overhauled its range of PC navigational software with the Navicarte seaPro package. Several versions are available: Navicarte seaPro Yachting for SuperYachts, Navicarte seaPro Racing for regattas or ocean racing, Navicarte seaPro 3000 for cruising the high seas, and Navicarte seaPro Lite for coastal cruising. The Navicarte seaPro software range enables you to read the maximum range of formats found in the market (S57, Navicarte/Livechart, Navionics Gold & Platinum, ARCS, BSB). Your PC can become a real navigational system: fitted with Navicarte seaPro 3000, Racing or Yachting software, connect the PC Radar Navicarte to your PC and you will be able to see radar echoes superimposed on the electronic marine charts.
