Fabric news heads for the Great North Sophie Hallette Sophie Hallette presents a most unexpected alliance in its F-W 2010-11 collection created in collaboration with Saga Furs, a big name in the world of fur The fine duo has brought to life a collection that is quite fittingly called The Great North. Lace dresses up for winter in an innovative range signed Sophie Hallette, who wanted to associate it in an unprecedented way with Saga Furs Fox® and Saga Furs Mink®, magnificent fox and mink furs. “At first it seemed paradoxical to combine gossamer lace with fur , but the lightness and thickness of our skins perfectly complement the fragile beauty of the lace”, says Dorte Lenau Klint who is in charge of design at Saga Furs. Inspired by arctic landscapes and the legendary princesses of the Far North, the collection presents four different versions of lace that are pure and raw , refined and delicate, with hand- embroidered skins applied to each of them. An association between these two companies seemed almost evident to bring the project to fruition, because they share the same values – tradition, quality and innovation – and they both focus their efforts on developing new techniques while using materials that are semi-handcrafted and elaborated based on centuries-old traditions. Since both already supply big names in fashion, this collaboration can only open up new horizons for each of them. The “EcoFabrics” by Jersey Lomellina which ensures high resistance to chlorine, making them perfect for creating swimwear, while the extreme elasticity, soft handle and high breathability make them ideal for fashionable fitness wear . Ecolors is available in six new colours, while Ecoline features a number of striped versions. Finally , Jersey Lomellina present Renew, a new ecological fabric made fr om 80% r ecycled Polyamide fibr e derived from production waste, scraps and also finished pr oducts (such as r ugs and carpets, for example), and 20% Xtra Life Lycra®. Its technical characteristics are numerous: soft, compact and opaque, it guarantees total protection against UV rays (UPF 50+), is quick-dr ying and the pr esence of XtraLife Lycra® ensures that a gar ment made with Renew is highly r esistant to chlorine. In addition, Renew clings perfectly to the body, moulding the contours without restricting and improving the athletic per formance of those wearing a garment made with this latest generation technical fabric. Extremely comfortable, Renew is suitable both for use in the competition swimwear sector and in that more sophisticated and fashionable. As par t of the Gr een V ision that for years has guided the company towar ds a serious ethical commitment to the environment, Jersey Lomellina has developed a series of fabrics that marry the best of this pr oduction philosophy . Ecolors and Ecoline - the new eco-friendly fabrics with a Made in Italy label that took shape in JL’s laboratories are the result of a combination of research, development and innovation. These latest generation fabrics ar e obtained with the use of dope dyed fibres that allow for a dr y production process: no water in the dyeing cycle, no waste of water . Ecolors and Ecoline guarantee unifor m, homogeneous colours, a high degr ee of colour fastness, no fading over time and can also be easily washed and paired with coloured or white garments without the pr oblem of shrinkage. The high degr ee of colour r esistance means ther e is no loss of dye when garments are washed, resulting in a significant reduction in waste water pollution over the manufactured garment’s entire lifespan. Ecolors and Ecoline are hi-tech eco-friendly fab rics: their composition also incorporates the Xtra Life L ycra®,
