Le collectif et alors.
Yannick Gourvil and Cécile Leroux are part of collectif et alors which they created in 2006 alongside Thomas Jouffe and Julien Morel. These four architects teamed up during their end of studies diploma to work on the fictional project called Rennes + 6°C. A methodology and specific analysis tools were created to observe the urban consequences of the application of a fictional climate on a representative sample of the territory and form the basis of the common approach of the collectif. This research was the subject of an itinerant exhibition and conferences, and it is also the chance to discover the fictional scenario of Rennes + 6°C created by Cécile Liège of Le Sonographe and Daniel Gonzales, artist and graphic designer. Ever since, this project has been enriched by new experiences by extending its scope of investigation to other cities and other issues. The theoretical base deepens in parallel to an approach on fiction and utopia. In February 2008, a chronological century-long evolution of the city of Dunkirk, ‘Dunkerque + 6°C’, was presented at the 9th national energy forum for regional authorities. For the 8th Euro-Mediterranean Meetings on ‘Cities and Landscapes with climate change’, the Volubilis association gave collectif et alors free rein. A fictional urban scenario and a tourism guide for Avignon + 6°C were proposed for this occasion. In 2009, Cécile Leroux was awarded funding by the EDF Diversiterre foundation to lead the project called New Orleans + 1m, researching the evolution of an urban territory threatened by the increasing risk of cyclones. The collectif et alors also conducts in-situ experiments via temporary installations and investigations of locations, all of which are ideal opportunities to meet and work with new people.
