Carbures, one of the spanish composites industrial
flagship, recently signed a second contract with the
American Hyperloop Transportation Technologies
(HTT). At this occasion, Carbures accept to highlight
the role of composites involved in the ongoing futuristic mode of transportation they contribute to realize.

world. Currently, Carbures produces for
many modern civil and defense aircraft. The
pieces that Carbures manufactures for these
planes are very diverse and of a size that can
range from a few centimeters to more than
four meters : fuel tank lids, beams and panels
of the belly of the airplane, and so on.
-Mobility
The Mobility area is made up of the following lines: Automotive (design and manufacture of carbon fiber parts for vehicles),
Machinery (design and manufacture of test,
test and production lines, and collaborative
robots), Railway (design and manufacturing) of parts and structures of composite
materials for trains).
-Civil Works
This area is composed of a unit in Mexico
City and its headquarters are in Spain with
engineers and architects specialized in composite materials. Carbures Civil Works provides services of engineering, manufacture
and assembly of construction elements that
include elements made of advance composite materials, with or without collusion with
other traditional construction materials in
the areas of: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Industrial Works, Oil & Gas, Offshore,
R&D.

- Aerospace & Defense
The aeronautical area with more than 15
years of experience as Tier2 in the aerospace
and defense industries. Carbures manufactures structural parts of composite materials

Technologically, this unit has addressed
unique projects that technologically involve the implementation of composites
in products where they did not previously

how the Carbures Group started out?

Javier Moreno : Carbures is a company

specialized in engineering, systems, technology, and manufacture of machinery and
structures in composite materials, of international reference.
It stands out for its more than 18 years of experience working and manufacturing with
composite materials. Throughout that time,
it has managed to develop its own technology and know-how that allows it unlimited
applicability in the production processes of
composite structures. In this way, Carbures
has managed to diversify its activity in the
aeronautical sector, automotive, rail, sports,
safety and civil works.
In addition, the Company has been promoting all these years technological developments of the vanguard applied to
manufacturing processes in the aerospace,
automotive and civil engineering sectors.
What are your different lines of business,
and your main business segments (distribution of business by segment)?

J.M. : Carbures is structured around the

dolphin or Duque de Alba, which consists
of caissons of 12 m in diameter and 14 m
in height used for the expansion of Puerto
del Rosario in Fuerteventura. Another one
of the singular projects is the cover of 172
m2 made for the world headquarters of the
Norman Foster Foundation in Madrid. The
last project has been the signing of a contract
with the American Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) for the integral
development, from the design, engineering,
technology, and manufacturing, of the composite tube prototype by which, as a way,
this futuristic mode of transportation will
circulate.
Since you started out, what has been your
strategy to secure your growth and acquire
the technologies and means of production
required for composite materials?

J.M. : Carbures has based its growth strat-

egy getting ahead at every moment and
positioning itself at the top with the base
of innovation and technology. Thanks to
those of us who have developed pioneering
technology in, for example, the automotive
sector such as our intelligent linear or our
artificial vision applied to collaborative robots in our factories.
What advantages did you bring to the adventure initiated by Hyperloop Transportation
Techniques (HTT)?
