HP-C-V3D Apodius Vision System

3D digitalisation
For the first time ever, Apodius augments
two-dimensional
surface
texture
information with the HP-C-V3D Apodius
Vision System by adding spatial part
information and thereby allowing a
complete digitalisation and analysis of
FRP parts. By combining a ROMER
Absolute Arm with a measuring system
based on the Apodius Vision System 2D,
the company implements synergy effects,

which allow the best possible use of the
complementary characteristics of both
systems. The geometrical attributes of
the part are measured by an integrated
laser scanning sensor and a point cloud
is generated, by means of which the
geometry of the part can be measured.
For the subsequent optical imaging of the
surface structure, a specifically configured
camera system with high-performance
LED lighting is applied, which ensures
high-quality images. A specifically
developed data fusion model allows the
combination of geometry and surface
texture measurements.
The ROMER Arm, with its precise position and alignment accuracy, serves as a
global reference system, with which the
positional relation between part, arm and
sensor head can be clearly determined for
every position in space. Position data from
the sensor plane and part surface allow
the allocation of image information to an
exact position on the part's surface. As a
whole, the image and geometry information assemble a digital model of the part.
Owing to the gained flexibilization of the
measuring system, it is now possible to
optimally prepare large-scale production
during the product development process
up to approval or production release. At
the same time, manufacturers of small and
medium-sized batches profit since they
could not finance previous investments in
necessary measurement technology due

to lacking flexibility and product independency. As the reasonable state of the
art meanwhile forces production control
of the fibre orientation for load-bearing
FRP components, the innovative HPC-V3D Vision System is a significant
pillar for quality-assured production. The
system allows an industrial production,
which overcomes manual craftsmanship
and guarantees that the produced parts
meet the requirements.

Explorer 3D
The measurement results are evaluated by
the new Apodius Explorer 3D, a comprehensive software solution developed by
the company that visualises the complete
measuring process in real-time and
automatically analyses the measurement
results. Following the measurement,
different quality tools are available to the
user, which both allow defect detection
and part analysis as well as an actual-to-target value comparison. Design and
simulation data, in addition to previously
digitalised master parts, can be defined as
reference objects. Furthermore, the valid
measurement results can be used for iterative simulation and design purposes via
export functions, thereby leading to the
development of an optimised lightweight
desing.
