DMA+300 is the latest instrument within the range of METRAVIB dynamic mechanical analyzers, the DMA+ series. The new
METRAVIB DMA+300 combines the capabilities of a dynamic
testing machine, a tensile machine, a DMA and a rheometer. It can
perform: DMA tests: Tg determination, viscoelastic properties
measurement, and their dependence to frequency, temperature,
strain... for most polymer-based materials; fatigue tests of materials specimens
and industrial components; curing follow-up for uncured thermoset polymers;
crack growth tests on polymer films; tensile, compression, creep, and stress
relaxation tests. DMA+300 includes a 300-newton air-bearing electro-dynamic
shaker, in the brand new DMA+ high-rigidity one-piece test frame. The benefit is
a high ability to control thermo-mechanical test conditions with a high reliability
over unique analysis ranges: stiffness up to 7-decade variations, frequency from
0.00001 Hz up to 1 kHz, temperature from -150°C up to 500°C. The instrument
provides unique capabilities to analyse fine or wide variations of mechanical
properties for materials such as fibre, polymers or polymerization of thermosetting polymer films. DMA+300 is a powerful and versatile tool for research and
R&D, particularly suitable for the analysis of mechanical properties of reinforced
polymer materials and for life and performance prediction in the industry.

Together with its partner, Tung Yu, the REP company developed a down-stroking 250ton clamp force machine with
2800x3800mm platens for the moulding of motor covers.
The distance between platens is 3200mm, with a closing stroke
of 2200mm and an overall height of 8400mm. The complete
press can also be tilted to a 25° angle. The press is used to mould
parts from two liquid compounds (dicyclopentadiene) that are pumped into the
mould where they are mixed prior to entering the cavity. The tilting movement
is required for air to evacuate from the cavity. Parts are customarily large - several
meters wide - and can be relatively thick, without reinforcement.

Traditionally in vacuum forming, a mould is used to
produce final parts in PMMA, ABS, PS, PETG, etc. To
produce patterns, a new mould is needed while ensuring
that the part can be unmoulded. Accordingly, different shapes
require different moulds that can be very expensive, especially
when a limited number of parts is to be produced. The benefit of
Crylview is that it offers the advantage of producing a wide range
of patterns without changing the mould. Here, the production depends on the
sheet material, its thickness, the final product and the mould material (aluminium
or composite). Once everything is set, patterns are limitless and each part can
even be produced with a unique different pattern without having to change the
mould - this also includes logos or letters in any language. Additionally, sheets can
be reinforced exactly the same way as for polyurethane, fibreglass or epoxy.
