overseas. Wind blades (1.25MW), which accounted
for 10-15% of our overall
sales volume, were exported
to 24 countries and regions
such as the UK, Japan,
ROK, Argentina and more.
CCGC will further expand its
overseas wind blade
market, and explore the
foreign market for high-performance carbon fibre
(such as high-strength or
high-strength & mediummodulus carbon fibre) and
composite products (e.g.
ACCC).
JCM: What are your ambi-

Pr. Z. D. : China is the
largest composite market in
the world, with a glass fibre
capacity alone exceeding 300
million tons. But the market
demands fibres with higher
performance. This is the reason why we are focusing on
carbon fibre and its applications. Our carbon fibre has
found its use in many sectors
such as wind blades, core cables, etc. And our interest for
the future goes to aerospace,
transportation, new energy
and power grids.
Today, mass production of
our high-strength, standardmodulus carbon fibre is
stable. Part of our sales goes
to the domestic market. And
we will soon have new investments in higher-performance
carbon fibre.
JCM: What is your vision of
the compositemarket's evolu-

tion in China for the 2015-2020
period?

Pr. Z. D. : China's composite market will evolve from
a low-performance intensive
market to a high-performance
intensive one, from expansion-oriented to qualityoriented, from manual labour
to automation.
China will see a fast-growing
need for high-performance
fibres. And China's composites will have a larger market
share and stronger competence in the world. Local
manufacturers will have a
bigger share in the domestic
market. A growing number
of industrial sectors (such as
aerospace, automotive, wind
power, and construction) will
see carbon fibre as a better
choice.
Industrial integration is unavoidable and concentration
will be improved. The optimized value chain will be able
to work together with higher
efficiency. This should result
in more advanced technol-

ogy, better quality products
and more applications being
developed. Finally, the whole
industry will enter into a
higher, sustained development level.
Weight saving in automotive
applications will remain a
big chance for the composite industry, which has now
attracted great attention from
the public. More stringent
emission limits and higher
fuel prices will drive more
demand for lightweight solutions. As the largest automotive market in the world,
China has a lot to expect
from composites.
Recyclable thermoplastics
will have huge room for
growth in the future, as their
market share in China is only
10% at present. The automation of production processes
and equipment will be another important focus for the
industry. n
