Strong production capabilities

production. The Thailand facility, Tiger Composites Ltd., covers over 4,600 square metres and is located near the U-Tapao international airport. It has a strong experience in the rapid manufacturing of large volume products and also has a strong aviation and marine background. In the past they have completed large catamarans and are currently developing highperformance aircraft parts for Thailand and the Asian market. The Dominican Republic site is located in Santiago. This facility focuses on large production runs that need fast turnaround times for the American and European markets. Tiger Composites SA is also well positioned as an experienced manufacturer and service provider for the growing wind energy market in the Caribbean. JEC Composites Magazine: When did you create the company, and why did you choose the composite sector? A ARON D UNCAN : Advanced Composite Solutions LLC was started in 2002 to service the experimental aircraft development market. Composites are the most versatile materials for advanced structures with the most significant possibilities and our experience was in advanced aerospace composites, so this

JCM: Have you specialised in aviation since the beginning? A. D. : We started in aviation and have been quite successful in that market but about 5 years ago, we started working in several other industries such as marine, automotive, tooling and the theme park sector. We are unique in that we work with all composite materials and processes instead of specialising in just one. We are as comfortable in wet lay-up polyester chop as we are in autoclaved epoxy hybrid prepreg laminates. This gives our customers many options for the best solution for them. JCM: Are you diversified? A. D. : We are very diversified. We work with any customer for design and production solutions. We build boats to jets and everything in-between. We are also highly diversified and unique in that we have our own manufacturing facilities in the USA, Thailand and the Dominican Republic. This gives us the ability to

manufacture for any customer anywhere in the world, while still having a central point of contact for project management. JCM: You are now established abroad for production, do you plan further investments? A. D. : We have been manufacturing in Thailand for 4 years now and almost 2 years in the Dominican Republic. We will focus on growing and maturing those operations and increasing our capacity as our customer list grows. We would like to find a way to get better representation in the European market either through a strategic partner or opening our own European office. JCM: What is the next challenge for your company? A. D. : We have been in a strong growth phase for the last 3 years and have not had a chance to truly market our services. Our next biggest challenge is getting the word out to our potential customers so that they know who we are and what we can do for them.
