Headquartered in the easternmost part of the Shandong Peninsula and founded in 1987, GW is one of the largest fishing gear manufacturers in China, and has both manufacturing and R&D facilities. The company operates seven factories and three branches, including three Chinese and foreign joint ventures, and employs more than 5,000 people overall. Its main products are carbon- and glass-fibre fishing rods, which are available in more than 100 series and 8,000 different specifications. The annual production is upwards of six million fishing rods. GW also produces more than three million fishing reels, which are available in eight series and 20 different specifications. GW invested heavily in imported advanced equipment in order to develop a wide range of carbon prepregs to fill a gap in the domestic market, and ended up importing raw carbon materials to produce carbon fishing rods and carbon physical-training products. The resins can be cured at temperatures ranging from 80°C to 200°C via vacuum bagging, press moulding or autoclave processes. Advanced formulations with increased toughness or fire-retardancy properties suitable for public transportation vehicles are available to meet specific customer requirements.

A wide range of prepreg fibre forms are available, with valuable cost and technical advantages provided by the in-house reinforcement manufacturing capabilities. The range includes collimated unidirectionals (UDs), wovens and stitched multiaxials in prepreg forms. Dry carbon multiaxial fabrics produced in-house with the latest LIBA MAX 5 machine are also available.
