BUSINESS Market survey: India ICERP-JEC Composites Innovation Awards 2008 For the first time, composite companies operating in India were invited to take part in a new competition aiming to promote innovation. Stemming from a partnership between the ICERP-FRP Institute team and the JEC Group, the first ICERP-JEC Composites Innovation Awards were presented on Friday 8 February 2008 in Mumbai as part of the 4th Indian composites show, ICERP 2008. T he Awards partnership is the second of its kind organised by the JEC Group, following on from the partnership established four years ago with the organisers of the China Composites Expo. At this very first Awards evening, six winners were chosen from 16 candidates by a jury of five members – all involved in the composite industry. These candidates were short-listed from the numerous applications submitted by both Indian and foreign companies working in the Indian composite sector. Innovation in the spotlight It is worth remembering that the purpose of the event is to promote the quality and innovation of Indian FRP/composite products. The atmosphere was cheerful while the awards were being handed out at the Kemrock evening, in front of both the international and national composite press, not to mention the regional media (press and TV) who also covered the event. Below you will find a description of the six winning innovations. The competition will now be held every two years at the ICERP show. We look forward to seeing you again in February 2010 in Mumbai, and encourage you to already start thinking about your application!
