Rolling Stock Multilam® forms There are virtually no limits to the applications for Multilam. A Multilam can be fitted in a socket with a diameter as small as 0.5 mm. At present there are roughly 50 different Multilam types which can be adapted to their conditions of use by appropriate electroplating. Multi-Contact France Centre of Excellence for Railway Connectors Multi-Contact is a worldwide supplier to the railway industry through its numerous subsidiaries. The group relies on one centre of excellence in France (Alsace) dedicated to new developments for the railway industry. Multi-Contact France has the ability to develop new solutions and support customers all around the world. New requirements are centralised and analysed in France by our Railway Departement. Frederic Schull - R&D Director - is also the Key Account Manager for railway activity. The company focuses on customers’ applications to find the most suitable solutions utilising MC Multilam technology: • taking economic constraints into account. For Multi-Contact, “it’s not only what we make that makes us proud, but especially what we make possible for our customer”. We integrate Multilam Technology into our connectors and connection systems. It allows us to develop and design solutions for rolling stock systems such as: • Circuit breaker disconnecting switch • Auxiliary converter • Power converter • Traction transformer • Electric motors on bogies • Anything is possible We develop mono and multi-function solutions based on our know-how for: • Power connectors (up to several kVolts and kAmps) • Electric signal for command (LF or DC) • Coaxial connectors (High Voltage) • Ethernet connectors Contact forms Cylindrical contact forms are for either a socket (to mate with a rigid pin) or a pin (to mate with a rigid socket). Flat contacts are suitable for connecting busbars, either by pushing together or by clamping. Large busbar units can thus be connected with a minimum of time and effort. Fork contacts are particularly suited for contacting busbars in slide-in technology. It is a simple matter to install parallel busbars with float-mounted fork plugs. Round contacts tolerate angular misalignments. With the illustrated spherical contact, allowance can be made for axial displacements as well as for angular misalignments. Combined contacts With the modular plug connector system CombiTac, electric, gas, compressed air, fibre optic, coaxial, fluid and thermocouple connectors can be combined in a single plug. Multiple-pole contacts are simple to produce as a result of Multilam technology. They allow space-saving, compact plug forms. Applications for Railway Stock systems • Power and signal (LF & HF) connectors for couplers • Connectors for traction motors and transformers • Connectors for energy converter systems • Multi-couplers (electric and cooling fluid) for power-frequency converter modules in IGBT technology • Modular connectors for high-current junction boxes in trains with single-axle drives • Electrical connectors for rapid bogie disconnection during maintenance Applications for Railway Infrastructure • Electrical connectors in railway power stations and substations with busbar disconnecting devices, fork plugs (static and dynamic) for circuit breakers and sectionalisers • Connectors for signalisation equipment • Electrical joints for compensation of expansion • Rail catenary connectors with sliding contacts for compensation of linear expansion (due to temperature variation). Multi-Contact is well positioned as an expert to provide high added-value solutions for TGV, express trains, local and regional trains, tramways, metros. As our major references - SNCF, Alstom Transport, Bombardier, Siemens, Ansaldo, Rhätische Bahn, EOM - many customers place their trust in Multi-Contact and our capacity to respond to the most severe and complex constraints in the Railway Industry. That is our daily challenge ! AlexandreToumi Sales and Marketing, Multi-Contact France. Providing Complete Connector Solutions Based on our know-how and innovative design experience, Multi-Contact is able to adapt the most diverse connection systems for customer applications. In 2002, Multi-Contact became a member of the STÄUBLI Group resulting in many synergies which enable the company to better meet the needs of the market by providing complete connector solutions. We lead the market with our innovative multi-function solutions: electric, pneumatic and hydraulic.
