Just like their big brothers, they are dedicated to performance with their canting keels, two rudders, daggerboards and duck tails… They are sold as ocean going, but this is not at the heart of their concept. Designed for fun and speed, like a day boat, to each his own. The Farr 11 and its old fashioned bow The specifications of design number 613 by the Farr design team was drawn up by a client, who wanted to exchange his one- design Farr 36 for a more modern racing machine, an inshore yacht, which was nevertheless capable of having a large enough freeboard for coastal races, with a length between 11 and 12 m, with a crew of 6 or 7 people to sail in American races, including Key West and the Great Lakes. The boat had to satisfy the requirements of OSR standards, category 3, sail quickly in all points of sailing and even very quickly and safely. The result is an 11.18m hull with a swing keel moving up to 45 degrees, two asymmetrical curved daggerboards as well as two retractable rudders. The hull is thin to avoid drag and stable at high speed. The rigging pushes her forward with several levels of spreaders, with no backstays, which means she is easy to handle, thus allowing the crew to focus on the adjustment of the appendages and Ocean Racing - april 2007
