Le boogie connut deux éditions sous
cette forme, puis en 2003 ce fut le
retour à Vichy avec l'Antonov 72 et un
nouveau succès à plus de 11.000 sauts.
Le nouveau pari était réussi avec de
nouveaux atouts : changement d'implantation autour de l'aérogare et non plus de
la grande cible, avionnage informatisé,
prix du saut attractif (22,50 euros le
4500 m alors que certains centres
vendaient 22 euros le 4000 m), cadence
de sauts élevée, etc. Mais l'édition de
2004 s'affichait à la baisse, avec moins
de 500 participants et moins de 10.000
sauts. Il n'y eut pas d'édition 2005.
Joël Cruciani s'était tourné vers un autre
challenge et d'autres responsabilités,
toujours à Lapalisse, où il prit la direction
générale du Centre européen de chute
libre, devenu un des plus grands centres
de parachutisme sportif en France.
Parallèlement, il s'était mis à y accueillir
diverses entités militaires européennes
pour leurs opérations de parachutage.
Progressivement, l'activité parachutiste
militaire à Lapalisse a pris le pas sur
l'activité sportive, qui est devenue de
plus en plus ponctuelle, jusqu'à l'arrêt
total en 2016.
On n'entendait plus beaucoup parler de
Joël dans le milieu sportif, jusqu'à ce
mauvais jour de mars 2016, qui résonna
pour une partie du premier cercle de ses
amis de l'époque des boogies de Vichy...
Joël Cruciani venait de subir un grave
problème de santé, en bon lyonnais,
on peut dire que «la faucheuse»
l'avait frôlé de près.

Le 1er avril dernier, pour son mariage
avec Marielle, Joël Cruciani réussit à
regrouper, avec sa famille, une partie
de ce premier cercle. Durant ce mariage,
il a annoncé qu'il portait encore en lui
la volonté d'organiser un grand boogie,
avec un gros porteur, «une dernière
fois». Tout comme pour la date du

mariage, certains ont sans doute cru à
une blague...
On ne sait pas si on reverra un jour,
dans le ciel de France, l'ouverture d'une
tranche arrière sur «5000 mètres de
gaz», ou si on entendra à nouveau le
bruit du ciel qui se déchire, toutes les
15 minutes, lorsque des formations
à 40, 60 et plus éclosent en autant de
voiles ouvertes.

Ce qui est pris n'est plus à prendre,
mais on en reprendrait bien encore.
