The increase continued in the corporate services and construction sectors. There was also a positive progression this year for industry and wholesale. Over Ile-de-France as a whole, a 3% increase was recorded. Paris has many major sites but also an increasing number of very small businesses with a significant number having no employees (over half). The last survey was conducted by MEDIAMETRIE from 10 to 26 September 2007. Trends: In September 2007, entrepreneurs in Paris recorded significant increases in turnover, returning to levels recorded in 1998 and 1999. This boost in business was particularly noted for industry and the hotel and restaurant sector. Service companies and wholesale saw their previous sound performance remain stable. Business activity in the capital has also caught up with that of France as a whole for which the trend is rather stable compared to the previous year. 55
