The number of these accidents is on the increase compared to 2006 (+8%). Motorcyclists represent half (53%) of victims. The number of motorcyclist victims has risen compared to 2006 (+9%). An increase in the number of slightly injured people (+420) and in the number of seriously injured people (+43) was recorded. Conversely, there is a drop in the number of people killed by motorcycles (-7). The severity rate of accidents involving motorcycles in 2007 is 7.8. This rate is slightly lower in Paris than for all accidents. Pedestrian were involved in one quarter of traffic accidents causing injuries in Paris in 2007, a 7% increase compared to 2006. The severity rate of accidents involving pedestrians in 2007 is 13, greater than the rate for all accidents. In particular, an increase in the number of slightly injured people (+111) and in seriously injured people (+23) was recorded compared to 2006 figures. However, 8 fewer pedestrians were killed than in 2006. In 2007, pedestrians represent 22% of total victims as follows: children (14%), adults (62%) and elderly people (24%). We noted that people aged 60 and over make up the majority (82%) of pedestrians killed. Users of 4-wheelers were highly involved in traffic accidents causing injuries in Paris in 2007 (74% of accidents). The number of accidents involving 4-wheelers has increased by 7% compared to 2006. However, victims in 4-wheelers only represent 18% of total victims in Paris. This figure is stable compared to 2006 (-1%). The number of fatalities in 4-wheelers, i.e. only one fatality in 2007, has dropped sharply (9 fatalities less than in 2006), and, to a lesser extent, the number of seriously injured people (5 less) compared to 2006. The severity rate of accidents involving 4-wheelers in 2007 is 1. This rate is very much below the rate of total accidents in Paris. 46 Severity rate: Number of victims killed or seriously injured per 100 accidents involving victims. In 2007 the severity rate is 9.5 in Paris for all accidents involving victims.
