Key events in 2007 Transport • Inauguration of the redeveloped square in front of Gare du Nord, completed in late 2006 (17 January 2007). • The new local “Traverse Ney-Flandre” bus put into service in the 18th and 19th arrondissements (15 February 2007). • Inauguration of the covered section of the Paris ring road at Porte des Lilas (12 March 2007). • Inauguration of the Boulevard Barbès area with traffic calming (Espace civilisé) (29 May 2007). • Launch of a single number to call taxis (15 June 2007). • Inauguration of the Olympiades metro station on line 14 (25 June 2007). • Launch of the new ticket T+, for Bus-Bus and Bus-Tram connections with a validity of 1 hour 30 minutes (from 1st July 2007). • Launch of Vélib’, new self-service bicycle hire system (15 July 2007). • Transportation stepped up on metro line 3 (Pont de Levallois-Gallieni) (from 16 July 2007). • Sixth Paris Plage event (from 20 July to 19 August 2007). • European Mobility Week (from 16 to 22 September 2007). • Inauguration of the Monoprix Halle Gabriel Lamé logistics centre (28 November 2007). • Transportation stepped up on 15 Mobilien bus routes (from 3 December 2007). • Transportation stepped up on metro line 7 (La Courneuve-Villejuif/Mairie d’Ivry) (from 3 December 2007). • Inauguration of the Avenue de la Porte de Vincennes (3 December 2007). • Service extended by one hour on Friday evenings on all metro lines, tramlines and on the 68 connecting bus routes (from 7 December 2007). • Continuation of work on the extension of pay and display parking in the outer arrondissements. • Launch of the reconfiguration of parking spaces (limited to 2 hours including special conditions for residents) in streets with little or no shops (from December 2007). • Acquisition of four new underground car parks in the 13th arrondissement, with a total capacity of 2,332 spaces: Quai d’Austerlitz, Vincent Auriol, Grands Moulins, Tolbiac-Bibliothèque (4th quarter of 2007). • Signature of the Motorbike charter at the Paris City Hall (19 March 2007). • Installation of more speed cameras within Paris (Rue de Maubeuge, 9th arrondissement: 10 May 2007). • Organisation of the Motard d’un jour (Biker for a day) event (11 September 2007). • Distribution of the Guide of Best Practices for Motorbikes at the Paris Motorcycle Show (29 September to 7 October 2007). • National Road Safety week (15-22 October 2007). • Support for the soirée sans alcool (alcohol-free evening), The Charleston barge, organised by Voiture and Co (29 November 2007). • Approbation of the draft Plan de Déplacements de Paris (PDP – Paris Transport Plan) by the Conseil de Paris (Paris Council), 12 and 13 February 2007. • Decision made by the STIF regional transport authority’s Board of Directors to introduce free public transport in the Ile-de-France region for persons receiving the RMI welfare payment and their dependents (from 31 March 2007). • Prefectoral Order dated 4 June 2007, increasing the number of taxis in Paris from 15,500 to 15,600. • Decision made by the STIF regional transport authority’s Board of Directors to set up a single fare for carte orange zones 6, 7 and 8 on the basis of zone 6 fares (from 1st July 2007). • Five new agreements signed on 16 July 2007 with the OPHLM (public housing office), concerning approximately 10,000 parking spaces rented to residents. These spaces are part of the rented social housing stock. • Prefectoral Order dated 8 October 2007, introducing a speed limit of 50 km/h on the entire embankment expressway.
