In 1997, French-Canada-born Rodrigue founded DISTRACTION FORMATS, the first-ever independent company to specialize in format distribution, and was the instigator of the first ever Television Format Market at the Monte Carlo Television Festival in 1999. Formerly writer, cameraman, director and producer of variety programming, Michel was appointed VP of Programming and Production at Canadian TÉLÉ-CAPITALE, before founding his own independent production house and producing TV formats in France and Quebec. Honoured as a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts ET des Lettres by the French Minister of Cultural Affairs, Michel is an active member of the International Television community. He was a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (International Emmys), as well as the Entertainment Master Class (EMC) advisory board and is an attendee at the major international television markets in addition to being a regular conference speaker and founding Vice Chairman of FRAPA, the Format Recognition and Protection Association. En 1997, le franco canadien Michel Rodrigue a fondé DISTRACTION FORMATS, première entreprise à être spécialisée dans la distribution de formats et a été à l’origine du premier marché de format au Festival de Télévision de Monte Carlo en 1999. Écrivain, cameraman, réalisateur et producteur de de programmes de variétés, Michel a été nommé vice-président de la programmation et de la production sur la chaîne canadienne TELE CAPITALE, avant de fonder sa propre structure indépendante de production et de produire des formats TV en France et au Québec. Michel a reçu la distinction de Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, par le Ministère Français de la Culture, il est aussi un membre actif de la communauté Internationale de la Television. Il a été jury des International Emmys et de l’Entertainement Master Class (EMC) en tant que consultant. Il est un conférencier régulier dans l’industrie de la télévision et il est le vice PDG associé de FRAPA (Format Recognition and Protection Association). MICHEL RODRIGUE MICHEL RODRIGUE Acting chief Director curriculum implementation and Monitoring DEPARTMENT OF BASIC EDUCATION SOUTH AFRICA In her current position in the DEPARTMENT OF BASIC EDUCATION, Samuels manages the support and monitoring of curriculum implementation for early childhood development, as well as for learners with special needs. She is also the chairperson of the Curriculum Management Team for the development of a curriculum for South African Sign Language. As Director of Early Childhood Development (ECD) Samuels conceptualizes, develops and manages the policy and procedures for implementation of ECD programs in the Department of Education and interdepartmentally with other government departments, organs of state, and NGO’s. In the 90’s, Samuels developed educational programs for 150, 3 to 6 yearolds from disadvantaged backgrounds. She also piloted a language program for the acquisition of an additional language (focus on English and Xhosa) in the early years, and also worked for the Catholic Justice and Peace Committee, and assisted in the organization of conferences and seminars on justice related issues. Samuels has presented several papers both nationally and internationally. She has a BA Degree in Social Sciences from the University of the Western Cape with majors in English and Psychology.
